During the meeting of the Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes held on 21 - 22 November, the United Kingdom deposited a declaration extending the territorial scope of the OECD Multilateral Convention on Mutual Administrative Assistance in Tax Matters to cover the British Virgin Islands as a British Overseas Territory.
The Convention is designed to facilitate international co-operation among tax authorities to improve their ability to tackle tax evasion and avoidance. The Convention also provides for spontaneous exchange of information, simultaneous tax examinations and assistance in tax collection.Back to News
